The Nature of our calling is one which started in God which he himself put in our hearts: to define that our spirit is like St. Francis of
First of all like Jesus we promote vocation by inviting all others of different walks of life to follow His way surrendering Himself totally and submitting Himself totally to the Father. He lived his life by submitting His whole life to God His Father.
As FLP Sisters, Brothers, Priests and Lay or Ordained Associates, we try to be obedient to God too, especially to live a life of dependence on Him alone. In the course of our life being religious, we try to bloom where we are planted; to be the yeast that helps the dough rise, to be a catalyst of change in every community where we live.
Like any other SFO living in affluent places (
We Franciscan are itinerants and mendicants. We can sell and give everything to the poor and needy like what is being called for us to do in the Gospel; to find a decent job and promote the dignity of human labor; to use the talents, gifts and profession given to us in order to support and help the mission of Jesus Christ in proclaiming the Gospel. Also by supporting our FLP Missionaries and to establish any mission whose option is to help the needy both materially and spiritually the needy.
Unlike the FLP Priests, Brothers and Sisters who live in communities, the FLP lay associates should live with their families even in the mission, unless the Women FLP Lay associates decide to live with the FLP Sisters and those men FLP Lay associates decide to live with the FLP Brothers and Priests or with the FLP Diocesan Priest Associates.
All share responsibilities and privileges as one congregation. We help each other survive in and for the mission. Therefore to have a job or to have a business is allowed for the Lay Associates.
